A Look Into The Life of Popii
A Born Artist
Parented by Alfred Colbert & Wanda Colbert-Wiggins, Popii Colbert was born artistic. Alfred, computer technology fiend, former Queen, NY DJ & break-dancer extraordinaire embraced Popii's ambition as an artist & stood as one of the strongest pieces to being her backbone. Wanda, former singer & dancer, fostered some of her daughter's practicing habits, consistently engaging in line readings & participating in Popii's community performances. These two uplift Popii in helping to shape & mold her into the hard working, successful actress that she is becoming.


Eyes Wide Open
As a young girl Popii was intrigued by animation, crafts, music & dance. Popii would often dwell in fantasy worlds created by her own imaginative sense. It wasn't until she first began performing in church, dancing and singing with the church choir, to express and share her imaginations with the world. Her mother worked in community theatre. Giving Popii her first introduction to acting, Wanda would bring her along to rehearsals and performances where Popii would marvel at the stage and build interesting ways of communication with the performers.

As Popii grew into her artistic abilities & sense of discovering herself, she wrestled with choosing the field in which she wanted to build her career. Inevitably her career chose her when she left from an acting competition in Florida with nothing, somehow leaving her with a burning desire to grow & succeed. From then on Popii has been a powerhouse receiving training from several different training facilities & graduating with a certificate of completion from American Musical & Dramatic Academy. She has taken part in several different short & feature films while showcasing her talents in multiple theatre productions.

Popii Colbert is an up & coming writer & actress for film & television. She got her start in Norfolk, Virginia doing student films and commercials while attending community college. Realizing she wasn't getting what she wanted there Popii dropped out to fully pursue her acting career. This moved her to Manhattan, New York to attend AMDA & join the Musical Theatre program. She spent 2 years there receiving professional training while building in her craft. Upon graduating Popii sought to complete her training with a BFA, but lack of funding left her with a certificate of completion leading her back to Virginia. There she continued honing in on her craft working in community theatre.  Popii did a series of shows working with Generic Theatre & rejoined African dance company Atumpan, whom she had begun working just prier to leaving for New York. Loving every bit of work she participated in Popii yearned for more growth. Seeking more training she came across Actos' Place Inc. taught by Keith Flippen. There she begun studying Meisner Technique & taking scene study classes, all while taking part in more student films & continuing theatre. After spending 2 more years in Virginia Popii felt her career needed a boost & decided to pick and move herself to LA. Having been in LA for less than a year Popii has already gained representation & participated in; music videos, feature films & short films. To this day she continues submitting & auditioning everyday!
